Flying Fish (like the one pictured above) don’t actually fly — they “jump” out of the water to avoid predators, and then glide on air and ocean currents using over-sized pectoral fins as pseudo-wings. In 2008, the BBC recorded one “flying” for roughly 45 seconds, as seen here.
